The Planning Board's authority stems from RSA 673:1(Planning and Zoning)
and its principal function is "to prepare and amend from time to time a master plan to guide the development of the municipality" as per RSA 674:1. In addition, the Planning Board has the "authority to make investigations and recommendations which relate to the planning and development of the municipality." The Board consists of six members and three alternates appointed to three-year terms.
The duties and responsibilities of municipal planning boards include preparing and updating a town master plan, recommending changes to the town ordinances, preparing a Capital Improvement Plan, updating subdivision/site plan regulations, and reviewing (approve or disapprove) subdivision/site plans.
