Department Responsibilities:


The function of the Engineering Department is to manage two broad categories of activities. The first is to provide technical support to the Town's governing bodies. These bodies include the Planning Board, Sewer Utility Committee, Water Utility Committee, Conservation Commission, and the Zoning Board of Adjustments, etc. The second is to provide the review and inspection of development projects. The Engineering Department handles the following applications: Driveway Sewer (Residential/Commercial/Industrial), Sewer Acceptance, Sewer Allocation, Water (Residential/Commerical/Industrial), Water Acceptance, Water Extension, Street Acceptance, Fire Service Flow Test, Industrial Discharge (Commercial/Industrial)

Pelham Rd./Lowell Rd. Traffic Light

The project to install traffic lights at the intersection of Lowell Rd. & Pelham Rd. will begin Monday, July 31, with pipe/conduit work. This will take one to two weeks and then once the contractor receives the mast arms they will be installed. Minor traffic delays may occur.

Eversource Work on Elm Avenue

Kimball Hill Rd/Route 111 Road Construction

The Kimball Hill Road/Route 111 (Central Street) project will begin July 17, 2017. This project consists off adding a second lane on Kimball Hill Road to accommodate for a left lane only and a through lane (map overview). The project is scheduled for completion by August 25, 2017. There are no road closures expected during construction.
