The Patrol Division consists of three squads or shifts.  A squad operates from 6:30am - 3:00pm; B squad operates from 2:30pm - 11:00pm and C squad operates from 10:30pm - 7:00am.  Each shift performs similar patrol assignments however they all have their own unique assignments (IE: A squad vacant home checks and C squad Business checks or "Night Eyes").  Each squad has a Lieutenant, or Shift Commander, assigned to it.  They are responsible for the overall command of their assigned shift activity.  Each squad is also assigned a Sergeant, who is responsible for the first level of supervision of Patrol Officers.

All Hudson Police Officers working in the Patrol Division perform various patrol assignments, including emergency responses, criminal investigations, criminal arrests, accident investigations, and answering all calls for service from the public.  They enforce federal, state laws, and local ordinances.  Hudson Police Officers document their activities accurately and extensively with comprehensive and detailed written reports and use computerized record keeping.  The Hudson Police Department utilizes Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) in all patrol vehicles.  They also perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.
