Department Responsibilities

The Town of Hudson Department of Public Works is a dedicated team of workers whose primary goal is to maintain the approximately 190 miles of the town's roadways in order to ensure public safety.

Under the supervision of the Public Works Director the Department of Public Works has many responsibilities such as:

  • Maintaining the town's sewer, water and drainage systems
  • Snowplowing roadways
  • Sweeping roadways
  • Roadside brush cutting
  • Overseeing the town's Recycling and Solid Waste contract
  • Coordinating and staffing the Town Clean-Up events
  • Landscaping town parks, cemeteries, and facilities
  • Maintaining traffic lights and road signs
  • Fleet maintenance
  • Maintaining 24/7 emergency response capability

State Traffic Lights Maintenance

The Department of Public Works maintains 14 traffic lights within its jurisdiction. The State of NH Department of Transportation is responsible for an additional 10 (bulleted list below).

The State Department of Transportation, Bureau of Traffic is responsible for the maintenance and upgrades of the following traffic lights in the Town of Hudson.

  • Route 102/Derry Street & Old Derry Road
  • Route 102/Derry Street & West Road
  • Route 111/ Central Street & Kimball Hill Road
  • Route 111/Central Street& Hudson Park Drive
  • Route 111/Central Street& Park Ave
  • Lowell Road & Sagamore Bridge
  • Lowell Road & Walmart Boulevard
  • Lowell Road & Rena Ave
  • Lowell Road & Dracut Road & River Road
  • River Road & Pine Road
