Cognitive Alert Registry
This program is designed to better assist the Hudson Police Department when encountering children and adults with disabilities. HPD Wellness Officer Jason Downey has developed a voluntary program where caregivers/parents can access our registration form (see supporting document below) and fill in information on their loved one which they feel could help officers in better understanding and communicating with them should they meet. This voluntary registration is designed to accommodate both children as well as adults that have disabilities such as: Autism, mental health considerations, cognitive and developmental disabilities. Please note, this program is not in place of Operation Safe Return.
The Cognitive Alert Registry is meant to serve as a proactive approach between law enforcement and members of our community living with a disability, or with those who care for them. Caregivers and their participants can download the form on our website and respond to the Hudson Police Department Lobby to meet with an officer. A copy of this form, along with a photograph of the recipient taken at the time of their visit, will be entered into our computer database. All information is kept strictly confidential.
